Golda Meir

"Let me tell you something that we Israelis have against Moses. He took us 40 years through the desert in order to bring us to the one spot in the Middle East that has no oil!"
Starting with this quite amusing qoute I would like to introduce a person whom I want to describe- Golda Meir. I chose this female politician since she was an outstanding person among many Israeli politicians and regarded as one of the greatest female leaders in a history. What was so distinctive about her? Just as Margaret Thatcher in Britain so was Golda Meir described as the "Iron Lady". Her powerful and tough policy, as well as straightforward and highly effective rhetoric established her as a respected woman not only in Israel, but also in the world. Although born in Russia, raised in the US, she moved to Israel and she became its first female Prime Minister in 1969. She devoted her life to the development of the State of Israel. Her dedication to her country and a concern to its citizens made her memorable and loved by Israelis. She was an inspiration, as well as a prove that gender neither limits who you are nor what you can achieve.
In addition, I would like to add some of her quotes because I reckon they are really honest and true.

“Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do”.

“The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be”.

“You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you do not trust enough”.

“Don't be so humble, you're not that great". : )

Thank you for your fascinating story. This is exactly what I've been hoping for - not an obvious choice, but how interesting! I guess all your readers will go straight to Google or Wikipedia to find out more about Golda Meir, just as I did. Thanks again :)
